Thanks Be to You, Allah
A simple ilahi that recalls gratitude with every breath and humility with every step, bringing peace and tranquility to the heart.
At BBTD, we care about keeping Islam alive in a spirit of peace, good character, mutual aid and social solidarity, and passing it on to future generations. This page presents prayer times, the Holy Qur'an, selected hadiths, Islamic books we recommend, our ilahis and religious content that touches everyday life.
Prayer (salah) is one of the five pillars of Islam and the most fundamental act of worship that every Muslim performs five times a day. The Almighty states in the Holy Qur'an, "Establish prayer" (Al-Baqarah, 43), drawing attention to its importance. The five daily prayers draw a person closer to their Lord and reinforce feelings of patience, gratitude and humility.
Our brothers and sisters living in Brussels can easily follow prayer times using the official calendars of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). Not missing the prayer times is one of the most important habits that strengthens the discipline inherent in worship and devotion to Allah.
The Holy Qur'an is the final divine book sent by Allah to humanity through the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). With its universal principles encompassing faith, worship, morality, law and social life, it speaks to all times. The Qur'an shows the way to goodness, justice, mercy, patience and the right path.
Reading the Qur'an and striving to understand its meaning brings great reward to every Muslim. Our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." Our association organizes Qur'an courses and recitation programs to keep our community's connection with the Qur'an alive.
Teaching our children and young people to read the Qur'an is the most valuable legacy and the finest gift we can leave them.
"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah (the Qur'an) all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you β when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers."
Hadiths are the valuable reports containing the sayings, actions and approvals of our Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him), and they form the second fundamental source of Islam. Hadiths are the most reliable guide showing us how to reflect the verses of the Qur'an in our daily lives.
The hadiths that teach us good character, compassion for our family, respect for our neighbors, mercy toward those around us and being beneficial to society have been passed down through generations and have reached us today.
Islamic books allow us to learn our religion from authentic sources within a sound scholarly framework. Classical and contemporary works written in the fields of tafsir, hadith, seerah, fiqh and ethics guide Muslims' daily lives.
Our association's library contains Islamic resources in Turkish, Arabic, Bulgarian and French. Books suitable for every age group are available for the benefit of our members and guests.
Ilahis are among the finest examples of the musical tradition through which Muslims have expressed their love of Allah, their longing for the Prophet and their spiritual feelings for centuries. You can listen to the ilahis below directly on our page.
